Funny, perceptive and truly inspirational, comedian Kathy Westfield finds humor in places where others would not dream of looking. She truly believes that laughter is God’s alternative to self-medication. Formerly a flight attendant for a major airline, Kathy began doing comedy at open mics at comedy clubs and other venues around Los Angeles. Her career took off when she arrived home to Los Angeles after working a long flight from Sydney, Australia. Although she was exhausted from her trip, once she was home she had a case of insomnia. As she tried to relax while watching a talk show, a guest on the show told about a stand-up comedy class that she was teaching. Kathy jumped up, wrote the number down and enrolled in the class. This class let to her first television appearance when she was featured as a young comedian on ABC World Tonight.
Kathy performs at churches, comedy clubs, colleges, non-profit and corporate organizations across the country. Her television television credits include performances on Centric TV, The Trinity Broadcast Network (TBN), Good Morning America, BET’s Comic View, ABC World News Tonight, The Dr. Drew Show, The Apollo, America’s Funniest People ($10,000 Grand Prize Winner) and she was also featured in the film Dreams. She recently had a featured performance at the NAACP Image Awards Nominee Luncheon, was voted the Industry Judges First Prize Winner at the Flapper’s Comedy Club Competition in Burbank, and was the winner of the Los Angeles Comedy Awards’ Funniest Clean Comedian. Kathy has always loved to laugh as far back as she can remember and has used laughter to get through some difficult times. By touching on the funny side of life’s struggles, she creatively combines humor with subtle inspiration.
